First tenant announced for Meridian Cool Springs development

Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream will open its first Franklin location this summer at 990 Meridian Boulevard’s mixed-use project.

Construction is underway on the 1,400-square-foot jewel box building at the Meridian Cool Springs development. A green space will connect the ice cream shop to a 4,700-square-foot restaurant building with a tenant yet to be announced. Handel’s will have a walk-up window for customers. Boyle Investment Company, the project developer, said that it plans for the open space to allow for gathering opportunities.

“With this location, we’re bringing more than just world-class ice cream to Franklin,” Matt Higgins, owner of Handel’s Ice Cream Cool Springs, said in a release. “We’re creating a place for families to gather, share laughs, and dive into some seriously delicious scoops of unique flavors.”

Handel’s brand dates back to 1945 and carries on traditions like making fresh batches of ice cream daily using original methods and recipes.
